On Monday, June 22, 2020, while traveling northbound on Interstate 85, Sergeant Chris Baird with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of a 4-door Sedan car driving at a high rate of speed, of over 100 miles an hour.

As the pursuit continued onto Highway 58, eastbound, Sergeant Baird was assisted by the Lacrosse Police Department, Brunswick and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle in pursuit crashed in the area of Cumbia Avenue and North Drive in Brodnax.

K-9 units were deployed and tracked the suspect for some distance.  The unknown suspect/s fled the scene before any identifiers of suspect/s were gathered. 

The vehicle was reported stolen from Washington, D. C.  Suspects may be armed and dangerous. 

Brunswick and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office encourage residents in the Brodnax area to remove your keys from your vehicle, lock your vehicle doors, secure any outbuildings, and lock your homes.

No charges have been filed at this time.
