The Brunswick County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors heard a presentation by James R. Strozier, P.E. with Highground Services, Inc. regarding historic tax credits. He renovated a building in Franklin and is very familiar with renovation projects. Strozier said Franklin was facing some of the same problems as the Town of Lawrenceville regarding revitalization.

The directors voted to advertise for engineering services and to hire a grant writer.

The directors authorized Mike Dotti, Business Liaison Director, to purchase a cell phone.

Approval was given to shred financial records after seven years if appropriate.

The IDA bylaws were approved to remove the County Administrator as Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.

The IDA will solicit bids to paint the streetlight poles.

Michael Grimm with Poor Jelly Fish updated the directors on redesigning and updating the IDA website. He asked the directors to submit photos to be added to the web. He said the new website should be ready by the first week of June. Visit

Dotti said plans are in the works for the IDA to sponsor Movie Night two nights per month in June and July and sponsor a movie for National Night Out set for Tuesday, Aug. 6. The movies will be shown in the newly renovated parking lot behind the Brunswick County Library. Jeannell Jones, Finance/Project Manager, is organizing the event. Watch for more information.

After the closed session the directors approved the incentive package for the IDA lease agreement; the directors voted to merchandise timber on St. Paul’s property when market conditions improve; the directors voted to place a full page ad in the Poplar Mount Baptist Church Anniversary Souvenir Booklet; the directors voted to buy a quarter page in the “Getting to Know Brunswick” publication.
