LAWRENCEVILLE – At the April meeting the Brunswick County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors voted to send a letter to the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors suggesting that the Lawrenceville Airport area be used as an event venue.

As background recently the Town of Lawrenceville sold its share of ownership in the Lawrenceville-Brunswick Municipal Airport to Brunswick County. The Brunswick County Board of Supervisors also agreed for the 2019 Taste of Brunswick Festival to be held at the airport due to construction at Southside Virginia Community College, Christanna Campus, Alberta. The Taste of Brunswick Festival has been held at SVCC for many years.

Other action taken after a closed session included the following: forming a Land Management Committee and a Prospect Review Committee; approving the FY2019-2020 proposed budget; approving the Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates Audit Report for the year ended June 30, 2018; approving the revised IDA By-Laws that includes the duties of the Business Liaison Director along with minor revisions; approving the Lease Contract for the Dr. Brown building and the Purchase Contracts for the Walker Drugstore, White’s Shoe Store and LPC Buildings upon approval by the Prospect Review Committee.

The IDA Board of Directors meets Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at the IDA office, 116 West Hicks Street.
