Marijuana, cash seized

LAWRENCEVILLE – A traffic stop on Governor Harrison Parkway near the Brunswick Square Shopping center led to Arin Tavon Futrell, 27, from Durham, N.C. being charged with distribution of marijuana.

Officer Cedric Macklin with the Lawrenceville Police Department said he stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on Jan. 18 around 2:30 p.m. When he approached the car he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The search of the vehicle yielded approximately 20 pounds of marijuana, individually packaged in vacuum-sealed bags. The street value is approximately $70,000. A total of $759 in currency was also seized. Futrell is being held without bond at the Meherrin River Regional Jail. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
