300th Anniversary Logo presented

Brunswick County will celebrate its 300th anniversary in the year 2020. The Brunswick County Board of Supervisors established the Brunswick County 2020 Committee for the purpose of preparing for and commemorating 300 years of Brunswick County’s evolution since it was established in 1720. LAWRENCEVILLE – Brunswick County will celebrate its 300th anniversary in the year 2020.

According to information provided by Assistant County Administrator Leslie Weddington, the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors established the Brunswick County 2020 Committee for the purpose of preparing for and commemorating 300 years of Brunswick County’s evolution since it was established in 1720. The members are: Rebecca Akers – Totaro District, Elizabeth Burns – Red Oak District, Marc Finney – Sturgeon District, Michael Grimm – Meherrin District, Richard Scott – Powellton District, Bobby Conner – Brunswick County/Lake Gaston Tourism Association, Nathaniel Neblett – Historian, Gay Neale – Historian, Wendy Wright – Brunswick Chamber of Commerce, Dixie Walker – Tourism Coordinator, and Leslie Wedding – Assistant County Administrator.

The Brunswick County 2020 Committee developed a Mission Statement, application to partner with Brunswick County 2020, and the 300th Anniversary Logo.

Weddington said the committee is continuing to develop a schedule of events to present to the Board of Supervisors at the November meeting.
