LAWRENCEVILLE – At the June meeting the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors adopted the FY20 Brunswick County Consolidated Budget in the amount of $44,476,573. The budget includes the General Fund, Capital Improvement Projects and Brunswick County Public Schools. The budget covers July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.
In other matters, Dr. Kristy Somerville-Midgette, Division Superintendent, presented the FY19 May financial report. The expense tracking report based on the Bright System printouts at the end of May indicates the division has expended $18,088,781 or 85.13% of the categorical budget.
Dr. Midgette said the revenue tracking report at the end of May indicates the division has a total of $17,442,015.53 in revenues and transfers. This represents 82.07% of the revenue budget.
The Average Daily Membership reported to the Virginia Department of Education as of March 30 was 1,533. The FY19 budget was built on an ADM of 1,520.
The supervisors appropriated $19,750 in sponsorships to the applicable revenue and expenditure line items associated with the 2019 Jazz Festival.
The supervisors transferred a total of $14,449.74 of unexpended funds from the FY19 Department of Emergency Services fund to the appropriate line items of the FY19 Fire & EMS departmental budget.
Disbursements totaling $286,368.82 were approved for payment.
Wilhelmina Jones was appointed to the Local Board of Public Welfare for a four-year term representing the Red Oak District.
Donna Hargrove was appointed to the Meherrin Regional Library Board representing the Sturgeon District. The appointment is for a four-year term.
