I want to talk to you about an issue we are dealing with on the Financial Services committee that is important for the economy and for our country. The Export-Import Bank of the United States is a government operated agency that assists in financing and facilitating U.S. exports of goods and services.
The bank is up for reauthorization in September and the Financial Services committee is debating a bill to revamp and reauthorize it. This is important for the economy and for our national security to reauthorize the bank- American companies need this bank to compete in global markets. We also have to understand the affect the bank has on China and proceed with caution when dealing with Chinese companies in the global marketplace.
The Export-Import bank is important for the economy and for our national security apparatus and I hope the Financial services committee can work on a bi-partisan reauthorization package that will keep this bank in operation.
As always, I strive to be an accessible representative for the 5th district and encourage all constituents to reach out to my office by calling my DC office at (202) 225-4711 or stopping by our office in 1022 Longworth. We also have two district offices in Charlottesville (434) 973-9631 and Danville (434) 791-2596.
