The Brunswick High School varsity baseball team put up a valiant fight on Friday but fell 11-4 to Southampton HS in a Tri-Rivers District contest.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 4-8 overall and 4-6 in the district.

“We battled to the end today and I thought we played with high spirits,” said Brunswick coach Darrick Summiel. “This was a big improvement on how we played at Park View yesterday. We are really starting to see the ball well offensively as we outhit Southampton 10-9 in the game.”

J'Twan Hardy went 3 for 3 and scored a run while Jordan Wesson went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a triple, 2 RBI, a stolen base, and run scored.

Ahmada Harris went 1-3 with a double while John Hicks, Joseph Walker, and Jaheim Hicks all had singles. John Hicks and Jaheim Hicks each had a RBI in the game while Jamaal Hicks and Walker each scored a run.

“We still need to improve on the defensive side as we committed several errors,” said Summiel. Jordan Wesson got the start on the mound and pitched three innings striking out three and Walker finished the rest of the game striking out two.
