BJ Stith Named Player of the Year

Congrats this week to Old Dominion University 6-5 senior guard and former Brunswick HS standout BJ Stith who was named the Conference USA Player of the Year after leading Old Dominion University to their first conference title since 2010.

Stith was also named to the C-USA first team along with teammate Ahmad Caver.

Stith averaged 17.3 points per game which led ODU and was eighth in the conference.

He averaged 7.4 rebounds per game which was sixth in the conference and shot 83.6% from the free-throw line which was also sixth in C-USA.

He had nine double-doubles this season which ranked third in the conference and his 6.1 defensive rebounds per contest also ranked third.

Stith was 12th in the league with 2.2 three-pointers per game while shooting 37.4% from deep.

Stith was also big in helping ODU capture the C-USA tournament title

It has been a big season for BJ and his father Bryant Stith, an assistant coach on the ODU team, as the Monarchs earned their first NCAA tournament bid since 2011 and will open play as the No. 14 seed in the South Region and play third-seeded Purdue University on Thursday in Hartford, Connecticut.
