The Park View Middle School football team set the tone on the first series of the game and topped James S. Russell Middle School 18-6 last Wednesday night in a battle of unbeaten teams.

The victory improved the Cougars to 6-0 on the season while the Lions fell to 5-1.

Russell took possession following the opening kickoff but the Cougars defense came up with several hits in the backfield and took over at the 21-yard line after coming up with a big stop on fourth down.

The Lions defense rose to the occasion however and came up with a fumble recovery at the 5:37 mark of the opening quarter.

The Cougars forced a punt on Russell’s next offensive series when Jaylin Haskins sacked the Russell quarterback for a 9-yard loss.

PVM completed a pass for a first down and Haskins scored on a 3-yard touchdown run for a 6-0 lead at the 6:42 mark of the second quarter.

The Cougars’ Alijah Richardson came up with a fumble recovery on Russell’s next offensive series near midfield.
