The Brunswick Academy Lady Vikings varsity softball team put up a valiant fight but fell 9-2 to Kenston Forest School in a state semifinal contest on Thursday.

Paul earned the victory on the mound holding Portsmouth Christian to only two hits and one run over four innings.
The Lady Vikes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Naomi Sadler walked, stole second, and scored on a RBI single by Paul. Emily Roberts followed with a single and Alyssa Rivas hit a sac fly scoring Paul. Paige Jennings completed the scoring with a RBI single.
BA added three more runs in the third inning on a double by Rivas that scored two and a RBI double by Jamie Saunders.
The Lady Vikings broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning to pull away for the slaughter rule victory.
Jennings had a big day going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI while Paul went 2 for 3 with a RBI.
Nelia Washburn and Saunders both had one hit and 2 RBI while Rivas added one hit and 4 RBIs.
Sadler added a hit and a RBI in the victory while Roberts, Kyleigh Capps and Allie Pope all had one hit apiece.
