A Great Campaign

It was quite a season for the Park View High School varsity volleyball team.

While I know the Lady Dragons were hoping for a better result in their 3-0 loss at Goochland in the Class 3 state quarterfinals on Saturday evening, it certainly does not diminish their accomplishments from a superb season.

The Lady Dragons went undefeated in Tri-Rivers District play to take the regular season and tournament crowns and qualified for the Class 3 state tournament for the second time in three seasons after finishing as the 3A regional runner-up.

Park View has a strong nucleus that will return next year led by All-Regional first-team picks Courtland Hawkins and Deaona Watkins.

While the Lady Dragons will certainly miss the departing seniors, the future looks very bright for the program.

Congrats to Coach Beth Callahan, her staff, and the entire team on a sensational season!

Playoff Football

The Brunswick Bulldogs gave Thomas Jefferson a tussle for two and a half quarters on Friday night in the 2A regional quarterfinals but could not get over the hump in the second half as the top-seeded Vikings pulled away for the victory.

Despite finishing the season with a 5-6 record, there were many bright spots for Coach Darrell Owens in his first year at the helm.
