Great showing in state indoor meet

Brunswick High School Indoor Track & Field athletes recently competed in the Class 1A/2A State Championships held at Roanoke College. Two members of the girls and eight members of the Brunswick High School boys Indoor Track & Field teams traveled to Salem on February 28-29 to compete in the Class 1A/2A State Championships held at Roanoke College. The girls’ team finished fourth overall and the boys’ team finished 5th overall out of over 40 schools in competition at the meet.

For the girls’ team, Aniya Seward placed second in the 55 meter hurdles and triple jump. She placed third in the long jump, fourth in the 55-meter dash, and sixth in the 300-meter dash. Desmyn Owens placed third in the shot put.

For the boys’ team, Chadwick Cleaton placed third in the triple jump, fifth in the long jump and 55 meter dash, and seventh in 300 meter dash. Rodney Gillus placed sixth in the 55 meter hurdles and Marcus Wheeler placed seventh in the 55-meter hurdles.

The 4 X 200 meter relay team of Marcus Wheeler, Cornelius Gillus, Norea Wheeler, and Cleaton placed second.

Also competing at the meet for the boys’ team were Jacaree Crockett, Duane Taylor, and Deonta Jones.
