The Park View Middle School football team completed a perfect 8-0 campaign with a 20-0 win over Russell MS in the Southside Middle School Conference championship game in South Hill last Wednesday night.

The Lions finished their campaign with a record of 6-2, with both losses coming against Park View.

“Russell is a good team,” said Park View Middle head football coach Bruce Cliborne. “Our game plan was to use the clock and keep their offense off the field.”

Russell kicked off to Park View to start the contest but the Cougars could not get anything going and punted.

A fumble by the Lions however was recovered by Park View’s Jeffrey Coleman.

A 20-yard run by Coleman moved the ball to the 15-yard line and Jaylin Haskins followed with an 11-yard rumble down inside of the 5 yard-line. Two plays later, Kratavion Thomas scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak for a 6-0 lead at the 2:02 mark of the opening quarter.

The Lions came right back as quarterback Jatavion Smith hit Jalill Edwards with a 25-yard pass completion.

Tyrone Bass picked up 13-yards to give Russell a first-and-goal at the 9-yard line.
