The Brunswick High School varsity baseball team topped Surry HS 5-4 in nine innings in its regular season finale last Tuesday afternoon.
The victory improved the Bulldogs to 6-10 overall and completed a 6-8 mark in Tri-Rivers District play.
Brunswick was scheduled to open Class 2, Region A tournament play at King George HS on Tuesday but results were not available at press time.
Justin Wesson got the start on Senior Day against Surry and pitched well, throwing six innings and striking out six while allowing only one walk.
Ahmada Harris pitched the final three innings in relief allowing only one hit while striking out three with one walk.
“Our defense played solid behind both pitchers as we only committed three errors on the day,” said Brunswick coach Darrick Summiel. “This was probably our best hitting game even though we left 10 base runners stranded.”
The Bulldogs outhit Surry 15-6 in the contest.
John Hicks led the way going 3 for 5 with two singles, a triple, a stolen base, a run scored, and a RBI.
Jaheim Hicks went 2 for 5 with a single, a triple, a run scored, and a RBI.
