LAWRENCEVILLE – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two grand larceny cases, one at the Eastside Convenience Mart and one at Ricky’s Service Center.
Captain Brad Evans said Captain T. D. Jones responded to Eastside Convenience Mart, 17999 Governor Harrison Parkway, Freeman, Virginia for a stolen trailer. The owner reported that a black trailer with a square plastic water tank attached was stolen between May 11, 2023 at 5 p.m. and May 12, 2023 at 8 a.m. The victim said there was damage to the front brace of the trailer. He checked with all family members and no one borrowed the trailer. The incident is still under investigation.
On May 12, 2023 at approximately 6:43 a.m. Sergeant A. W. Connell responded to Ricky’s Service Center, 584 Piney Pond Road, Brodnax, Virginia, for a breaking and entering. An employee reported that when she arrived to work she observed the impound lot gate open and a maroon 2015 Nissan that was towed in yesterday was missing. The employee reviewed the store camera and said at approximately 1:30 a.m. two subjects jumped over the fence of the impound lot and stole the 2015 Nissan Altima. The subjects were able to push the locked gate open and drive the car out of the secured lot. The investigation division was contacted and they responded to the scene.
In other matters, Rodney Pearson, 51, from Brodnax is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on May 12, 2023.
Sergeant A. W. Connell stopped a male subject at Dry Bread Road and Highway 46. He had knowledge that Pearson was not licensed. When conducting the traffic stop, the male ran off the road and pulled into a driveway. There was a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The male was offered a preliminary breath test and he blew a .23% BAC. Other tests were conducted. Pearson was arrested at 10:39 a.m. for DUI.
