LAWRENCEVILLE - The 2021 Taste of Brunswick Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brunswick County Airport, formerly the Lawrenceville-Brunswick Municipal Airport, 77 Airport Drive, Lawrenceville, Virginia 23868. The festival is free and parking is also free.

Dance It Out, a group from South Hill, Virginia, will perform right after the opening ceremony.

The Brunswick County Board of Supervisors approved many improvements to the airport including adding water and more electrical outlets and converting hangars into a bathroom facility and a meeting room. Medical equipment will be set up in the meeting room on the day of the festival.

The Brunswick Stew Masters will sponsor the Brunswick Stew Cook-off. First, second, third and fourth place winners will be chosen, competing for $2,000 in prizes. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. Stew is ready by 11 a.m. and sold by the cup or bowl and quarts are available for sale after 1 p.m. The cost is $9 per quart, $3 per bowl and $1 per sample.

Stew masters competing this year are: James Campbell – Brunswick, William Slayton – North Chesterfield, John Whitman, Jr. – North Chesterfield, Mac Pennell – Blackstone, Aaron Gibson – Richmond, Sean Wyatt – Blackstone, David Coleman – church Road, Clark Bennett – Blackstone, Kenneth Lawson – Brunswick, Jonathan Brown – Emporia, Phil Pair – Brunswick, Seward/Kelly – Brunswick, Kevin Pair – Brunswick, George Daniel – Brunswick, and Dylan Pair – Brunswick.

Many people believe the success of the festival is a result of different groups working together for a common cause, spotlighting the best of Brunswick County.

There will be activities for the whole family including a petting zoo, moon bounce, peddle cars, mechanical bull, and a train for the kids.

Silver Eagle Band will perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Feature Attraction Band will perform from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Car Show sponsored by Virginia Wheels Car Club is a favorite. Trophies will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. in several categories. The first 50 entries will receive Dash Plates. The registration fee is $20. For more information call Earl Blick at (434) 637-6699.
