LAWRENCEVILLE – Joanne Michele Blanton, 48, from Alberta is charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a misdemeanor and petit larceny on March 13, 2021.

Captain Brad Evans with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy T. Harding was notified of a possible break and enter on Brandi Circle in the Valentines area. He met with some neighbors and one neighbor said she watched a female that she knows as Joanne Gibson (Blanton) enter the residence. She stated that Blanton entered the rear porch area and left with two bottles of water. Harding was provided with a video of the incident.

Harding found Blanton walking around the neighborhood and explained what was going on. He read her the Miranda rights and she said she understood and agreed to talk with Harding. Blanton admitted going into the screened in porch, that she had water at home and was unsure why she broke in and stole the water. Harding said Blanton was cooperative and was very forthcoming with her confession. She was transported to the Meherrin River Regional Jail and charged. Once she arrived at the jail Blanton said she did not know who lived at the residence and that she had to unlatch the door to get in.
