LAWRENCEVILLE – The Brunswick County School Board recognized several employees from the Central Office for the month of April.
Tiffeney Brown, Director of Personnel, said the Pupil Personnel Director Leorie Mallory, and the Brunswick County Public School Nurse Team - Deborah Steed, Michelle Smelley, and Josie Seward has a combined 61 years of service to Brunswick County Public Schools and the team provides care, triage, and dedication to the health needs of the students and faculty.
Dr. Kristy Somerville-Midgette said this team has been instrumental in the response to COVID.
“Each of these ladies has worked tirelessly to organize and implement screenings, mitigation strategies/plans to keep everyone safe!” Midgette stated.
Brown said this team has been responsive to every case that has been reported during the pandemic. They have answered countless email, phone calls, made phone calls, checked on staff, followed up with sick staff and their families in a personal way that has exceeded the call of duty and have been responsive to their duty of care with a spirit of goodness. The team has manned vaccine clinics to ensure the faculty who elected to have the vaccine was properly cared for. The team has made adjustments and revised guidelines and protocols to meet the growing needs of the staff and changes brought about as a result of the pandemic and its effect on the community. Brown said the team ha acted with grace, patience, flexibility, and skill organization in the management of all aspects.
Brown said, “The Central Office is fortunate to have this team and look forward to many more years of their combined and continued service.”
