LAWRENCEVILLE – The Brunswick County School Board adopted guidelines for tuition reimbursement that obligates the recipient to one year of service to Brunswick County Public Schools for every three-hour year course. The agreement is contingent upon a favorable recommendation for their continued employment with the school system.
Dr. Jerry Congleton, assistant superintendent, said the policy is equitable and clearly states the requirements for reimbursement. Regarding coursework, upon verification by the Virginia Department of Education of needed coursework within a teacher’s assigned position, BCPS will reimburse a maximum of nine semester hours within a three-year period as resources permit. BCPS will reimburse a teacher for up to $800 per three-hour credit course.
A teacher must complete three steps for reimbursement.
Teachers will receive reimbursement once verification is completed by BCPS. Reimbursements are processed monthly. Title II funds can be used only for Federal Core Area Teachers.
Teachers resigning from BCPS prior to reimbursement will not receive reimbursement. Books, activity fees, and technology fees will not be reimbursed
