To the Editor:

2020 has been a year we will all certainly remember. As it began, 2020 was to be celebrated and remembered as the 300th anniversary of Brunswick County. To our dismay, COVID-19 decided to rear its ugly head. Unfortunately, our lives have since been forced to take a detour from our planned paths.

Regardless of plans, the safety and well-being of our citizens is first priority. With that in mind, we all have had to continue to adjust seemingly on a week-by-week basis. Cancellations and postponements have become the norm since March.

As of this writing I regret that the following have been canceled or are pending:

National Night Out – previously rescheduled to October 6 - CANCELED

Chamber Monthly Luncheon and Dinner meetings – August and September – CANCELED

Chamber April Fools Reverse Raffle Fundraiser – previously postpone to a date TBD - CANCELLED

The status for the remainder of 4th Quarter events is currently pending:

Halloween Parade & Trunk or Treat/Spooktacular Ghosts, Ghouls & Goblins Gathering – October 30 – Pending

Chamber Luncheons – October 14, November 11, December 9 - Pending

Christmas Parade – December 4 - Pending

Santa Breakfast – December 5 – Pending

Announcements will be made on 4th quarter events well in advance based on COVID-19 updates and regulations.

Let us all stay positive, keep ourselves and our loved ones safe and look ahead. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. Once we reach it, COVID-19 and all that it encompassed will soon be a distant memory or perhaps the better phrase is - distant “nightmare”!

The Chamber is here to assist if needed. We are a source for information that can put you in touch with various grant opportunities as they become available. Contact us at or (434) 848-3154.
