The Brunswick High School varsity baseball team fell to 1-1 on the season after dropping an 11-0 decision to visiting Windsor HS in a Tri-Rivers District contest last Tuesday afternoon in Lawrenceville.

“Despite the loss, I felt that there were some good takeaways,” said Brunswick Coach Darrick Summiel.

The Bulldogs trailed 4-0 after four innings but Windsor struck for four runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth to break the game open.

Savion Hicks got the start on the mound for Brunswick and allowed nine hits and seven earned runs while striking out two and walking two. Hicks also recorded two putouts and had one assist.

Kaijuan Roach recorded three putouts in the outfield.

The Bulldogs committed five errors in the game while rapping out four hits.

Marvinlee Barnes went 1 for 3 with double while Jayden Tucker went 1 for 3 with a single and a stolen base.

S. Hicks went 1 for 1 with a single and a walk while Jaheim Hicks went 1 for 1 with a single and two stolen bases.

“I was very pleased with our effort and our enthusiasm during the game,” said Summiel. “We continued to compete until the end.”

The Bulldogs game at Surry on Thursday was postponed due to inclement weather.

Brunswick is scheduled to play host to Southampton HS on Tuesday afternoon and travel to Franklin HS on Thursday.

Lady Dogs Fall

The Brunswick High School softball team fell 26-0 to visiting Windsor HS in its season opener last Tuesday afternoon.

Jadamichelle Bruce hit a shot that almost got out of the park in the fourth inning for a double that was the Lady Bulldogs only hit in the game.
